Sketch Challenge TESC105
I made this card for my quilting sister-in-laws' ( Alysons Petals) birthday. We had a small gathering at my parents house last weekend.
I found this one over at Taylored Expressions and thought it would be a fun one to use! I just bought my first Nestibilities Dies and finally tried them out. I think I need more practice to get a good emboss too...
This is some more of the fun paper I bought at Crafts Direct when I was there. I had to use a bird stamp on it because Alyson really seems to be into birds lately! She even posted something on Facebook about being old because she likes birds :) I colored them in with Prisma Colored Pencils.Saturday, March 13, 2010
18th Birthday
My niece's 18th birthday was Saturday! I tried to post this then, but Blogger flipped my photos and I can't figure out how to fix them so please bear with me. I still don't know how to fix them, so I am just going with it.
The only sad part about all of these birthday cards is that I mailed them Priority last week and no one has received them yet! I also added some money and other fun things into the box - I just hope no one took it for themselves...
Birthday Cassette Card
My Nephew turns 15 on Monday - it's his golden birthday! I tried to make him a cool card to celebrate the big day
Hopefully he even knows what a cassette tape is. he he
I didn't love how the ends were coming loose so I added these matching star brads on the ends to help hold them in place.

The sentiment is stamped in white & them embossed to make it stand out more. I lightly colored around the words with a Spica glitter pen for a subtle glittery effect

Make a Wish
I made some birthday cards to send down to my husbands family in Omaha.
We are a little late for two of them, but better late than never, right? Since I was sending a package down there we just thought we would include them all at once :)

Blast Off
I recently purchased this awesome Space/Rocket stamp set at Michael's and I think it's by Recollections. The paper is some co-ordinating stuff that they have out right now too.

Birthday Gift Card Holder
My husband's sister turned 40 this week. They live out of state so we sent her a gift card to buy herself a nice dinner. I saw this gift card holder on a blog and thought it would be fun to make.
You can find the one I saw and the video tutorial by Dawn over at Dawns Stamping Thougthts. The cupcake stamp was one that we bought in the $ section at Michael's. I colored it in with my Prisma Colored Pencils and added glitter Stickles on the swirly parts for some sparkle. I added the big Rhinestone as the cherry on top!
It opens into a flap card so I stamped the message into the middle section. The gift card is supposed to go in the slot/hole on the bottom flap. I didn't have the same punch that they used in the video, so I just tried to use my small square punch instead. As you can see it didn't really go far enough up from the bottom to slide the gift card in, plus I taped it too close to the edge to slide the card in. So instead I used double stick tape and just centered it over the hole(hopefully she will never know- until she removes the gift card I guess).
The top kind of tucks behind the stamped image & holds it together when you close it all up.
I really like this sentiment and it can apply to so many things, but works great for a birthday. I thought it was something different and turned out pretty cute! Who doesn't love to get a gift card in the mail no matter how it arrives?

Star Card
Here is a card that I have been working on here and there when I have time to pop into my craft room. I had some of the awesome star paper left over after another card so I thought I would try to make uni-sex birthday card. Then I added ribbon and rhinestones... Can it still be for a boy?? maybe..
I like it anyway and had fun getting back into crafty mode. I just picked up a whole bunch more stamps at a craft/garage sale last week & hopefully I can play with them soon! My daughter has already tried a few of them out for me.
I also took a picture of the paper I used for the card stock, it is by Creative Memories. It looks like Kraft paper, but has journal lines on it and now it will be easier for me to write a message on the inside :)

Kitty Birthday Card

Yesterday we went to my neice's 4th birthday party & it was a kitty theme. I had to go out & get a cat stamp because I didn't have one yet. I'm not a big animal person but I do like cats LOL!
The butterfly paper is by Basic Grey, the rest of the cardstock is by Stampin Up. The ribbon is by American Crafts and on the other side is a lot of polka dots(which I though would be too much so I flipped it over). I stamped the cat image on white cardstock then colored it with Prisma Colored Pencils. I cut it out and added a tiny bit of glitter to the little butterfly and the cats paws. I popped it up on dimensionals and also popped up the scalloped circle. The stamp is by Scrappy Cat.

Celebrate Robot Card
I just love this robot image right now! I had to make another card for my stock pile. The groovy paper is by Basic Grey. I inked the edges & then crimped the kraft colored paper to rough it up a bit. I colored the robot with Prisma Colored pencils. The black circles are from the $ section at Joann's.
This also for Sketch challenge 214 over at Split Coast Stampers.

Birthday Card for my Brother-in-Law
I made this card quickly today with my daughter. My brother-in-law's birthday is on Sunday and we wanted to send him something. It's always hard to come up with masculine birthday cards. I wanted a simple but nice looking card.
He loves to camp so we used this old skool looking tent stamp that I bought on eBay. I distressed the edges of the burgundy & blue pieces with brown ink to age it a little. I found a piece of this ribbon and thought it reminded me of a belt or something. But it worked so I went with it. The base card is a khaki green color and the scalloped circle is actually chocolate brown. I popped up the scallop for some added dimension TFL!

Golden Birthday Card
We are going to a birthday party this weekend and needed a super cute card. It's for my cousin's daughter who will be seven - it's her golden birthday! We go trick-r-treating with them most years and the last 2 years she was a butterfly. I saw this paper by Basic Grey and loved it! The base card stock is misc but the rest is Basic Gray. The Wishes stamp is Stampin Up. I cut out one of the butterfly's to pop up on the front and added diamond dust glitter to the wings.

Birthday Card for my Grandma
Here is a card I made for my Grandma's birthday. I'm not even sure how old she is(I'm terrible LOL!). I saw this layout on someones blog, but my computer crashed and I can't remember who it was, I'm sorry. I love how simple it is, but it still packs a punch!
The base card is Whisper White, then I used Kraft paper I punched with my Fiskars Threading Waters punch. The green is Kiwi Kiss, the blue is the new SU In-color, brown is Chocolate chip and the red is Misc.
I stamped the dotted circle with a stamp from Think Happy Thoughts and the cupcake is from a $ clear set. I colored it with Prisma Colored pencils. The Birthday Wishes stamp is part of Birthday Wishes set by Scrappy Cat. TFL!

SCS Sketch Challenge #200
Here is sketch challenge#200 from Splitcoast Stampers. This is a link to all of their sketch challenges. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41. Sometimes I love to have a new sketch to work from, otherwise a lot of my cards start to look the same. Kinda like my scrapbook :) I Cram as many photos as I can on a page and they pretty much end up being in the same place. Well, every Wednesday over at Splitcoast they have a new layout if you want to work with it. Here is my take on it.
I cut the awesome planes out of some paper I just got at Crafts Direct, it's by Creative Imaginations, which I popped up on foam dots for dimension. The lighter blue at the top and the red strip are SU's new "in-colors". The rest of the paper is misc. The stamp is a clear $ set from Michael's. TFL!
