Blog Candy & Challenge

Jen Tapler over at: http://jentapler.blogspot.com/2009/03/blogoversary-challenge-big-blog-candy.html is having a HUGE blogoversary challenge & give away. She is raising awareness and money for Alzheimer's Disease. My grandmother is in the early stages of it, so this one is close to my heart. She is giving away TONS of awesome stamps & stuff worth over $250, it's super easy to enter this one! She wants us all to make a any occasion card and send it to her and later she will have some auctions & stuff to raise money.
Here is my card(the photos are not so great). I love this new paper by We R Memory Keepers. The flowers are Primas.

Chairs are Done

I finally finished the chairs that I was redoing for my friend Goldy. She picked them last night to bring back to Nashville with her. I was pretty happy with how they turned out.
Don't mind all of the junk in the basement, I don't have the greatest place to do them anymore :)

You so Deserve it

I finally had a little time to head to the craft room and work on a card looooong past due. My good friend Goldy Locks(see below) works harder than anyone I know. She moved to Nashville a few years ago and has wanted to buy a property there instead of rent. In January she closed on it and has been remodeling it. I am so proud of her, no one deserves a cool place to call her own more than she does! She totally rocks!(like for real)

I started with black card stock(6x6 square) and then cut two off white pieces and roughed up the edges with my exacto knife. I cut the polka dot paper and the awesome red star paper and then inked the edges and sides with my Versafine Sepia ink. I stamped the image of the chick and masked off her arm to stamp the guitar by Inkadinkado in her hand. I kinda think it works :} I paper pieced the darker brown shirt and then colored the rest with some colored pencils. Her hair has pink in the front because the last time I saw my bud that's how her hair looked. I took some silver scraps and ran them through my crimper at an angle to look like corrugated metal and cut them out to be like photo corners. The star was cut on my cricut and then scored to give it dimension. I popped up the center image of the chick, the star and the "cloud" sentiment. I also inked the edges of the stamped image so it wasn't so bright white.

I wrote on the inside with a silver pen and it looks really cool! I hope she digs it as much as I do...

Thanks for looking. and commenting...

It's the little Things

So I found out it shouldn't take five hours to dry a load of clothes!! And your kitchen shouldn't vibrate from below when the dryer is on. So we finally had to buy a "new" dryer, I say it like that because it was at a discount place. But I have a new dryer & I can just feel that spring is in the air! I feel like washing & drying everything I can :}
PS. I do have a card to post for later. It's been kinda crazy around here & I haven't have as much creative time as I would like. Maybe this weekend after the laundry's done....

Light Rail

We went on the Hiawatha Light Rail the other day for some Saturday afternoon fun. My brother and his kiddos joined us. We usually get on at the Mall of America and ride it to the Mpls/St Paul Airport and then ride the Tram and escalators for a while. Here is a picture of my daughter, niece and nephew having tons of fun :)

Loose Tooth

My 5 year old just lost her second baby tooth last week. I've already been told that it seems early to be losing teeth. All kids do their things at different times, it's all good... Her new teeth started growing in before she lost the old ones so for a little while she had the shark teeth thing going on. Here are some photos of her posing after she pulled it out herself. The tooth is in the bag so we don't lose it because she wanted to wait until grandma and grandpa get back from their winter vacation so they could be there when the Tooth Fairy comes. How thoughtful...

These pics really crack me up, what's with the "posing" that kids do? LOL! Gotta love 'em for who God made them to be :}

One Sheet Wonder

OK, So I went to my cousin's house last week to help her make some cards for a fundraiser for her daughter's school/church. I decided to do a one sheet wonder that I found over on Splitcoast Stampers website. The one I found used an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper, so I cut mine down from 12x12. Now keep in mind it was my first time doing it this way, I had to make a lot of cards in a hurry, I needed to do all occasions and I wanted to keep it cost effective(cheap).

The photos are really bad because it was 9:00 at night and I still had an hour drive ahead of me and my 5 year old with me. I took the photos as fast as I could an cruised out the door glad to be done. We finished 25 cards, so hopefully it will help them raise some money. My cousin is on bed rest for the next couple months and can only sit one way in a certain chair, but she taped everything together after I cut and laid it out.

We did one set of 6 Thank Yous in one style and 6 in another, the rest are from the one sheet of Basic Grey Designer paper. You can click on any of them to see them bigger. I like some of them better than others...So here there are...

You Rock!

Here is a quick birthday card I made for our nephew who turned 14 over the weekend. He loves that Rock Band game for the Play Station. Hopefully he liked this card! I stamped right on the paper for a blended look.

Stamps are a clear set by Inkadinkado and paper is some funky stuff by Bo Bunny(I think). The stars were cut with my Cricut and the ink I used was Sepia by Versafine.

Dove Card

I found this stamp by Inkadinkado at Michael's for $.97. What a score! I love a great deal. I made this card just for fun and without a sketch to inspire me.I have seen some simple cards that looks so nice and thought I would give it a try. I lightly colored the branch and berries with my colored pencils. Damask seems to be the hot new pattern lately and I had this piece laying around. The sentiment stamp is part of "The Best Yet" by SU.

I also found a new ink that I really love. I have been using a Black Versafine stamp pad and love how it stamps. Then when I was at Michael's the other day I found an Antique Sepia Versafine stamp pad that I thought might look nice too. This is the way it looks on Whisper White card stock by Stampin Up. Thanks for Looking!

Just Because I Care

I thought I would try Jen Del Muro's Sketch Challenge this week. Here is a link to her awesome site: http://iheart2stamp.com/2009/03/07/sketch-for-you-to-try-12/ I turned it sideways to make work with my stamped image. I really want to build up my stash of Sympathy type cards and I like to have some uni-sex ones on hand for whenever I need one. So I tried to keep it simple and sorta manly.

The white and brown card stock are by Stampin Up, the dotted paper is by American Crafts (which I took my Exacto to the edges to rough it up), Ribbon is by Martha Stewart. The branch image is by Rubber Stampede which I colored with Prisma Colored Pencils and the sentiment is part of a hostess set by SU. Thanks for looking!

Happy Camper

Here is a page that I did about camping from last Memorial Day. I called it "Happy Camper" because I tried to get my daughter to smile for the photo and she gave me this crabby look! Again I did it kinda quick to get it done and keep moving. The Polka Dot paper is Mr Campy.

MN Zoo

Another scrapbook page that I got done last weekend. I love how the funky paper matches the "V" stripes in her vest. Simple but fun. The MN Zoo letters are chipboard by Amy Butler.

You Light up my Life

I snuck on down to the craft room yesterday while dinner was in the oven. I convinced my daughter to come down and work with me so I had more time :) I just won this paper pack by Amy Butler as a door prize last weekend. I thought I would try a different layout that usual. I think I really like how this turned out.

The solid colors are mostly by Stampin Up. The ribbon I got as a scrap from a local fabric warehouse.

I {heart} Cookies

Here is a page I made from last Valentine's Day. My niece & my daughter made cookies and were working really hard on them! I love the photos and thought it turned out to be a fun page.
I still need to add the {} brackets on the page, I didn't have any when I was working on it Saturday. TFL!

Easter Pages

Here is a two page layout of Easter(I think from 2007) I did it kind of quick to get it done and catch up a little. I didn't bring all of my tools so I used what I remembered to bring! I love to get as many photos as possible on a page because I like them all.
I haven't journaled anything yet and hopefully I will go back and do that sometime.

Surprise! I did some scrapbooking yesterday

I have been involved with a few paper crafting forums online and joined in some card/scrapbooking swaps in the past year. Last summer a few ladies from the Twin Cities got together and had a card making day. We have gotten together a few times since then and have joined up with a couple other online groups. Well yesterday we had another craft day & I decided to work on the scrapbook for once. I actually got 6 pages done! Which is probably a record for me in an 6 hour time frame. I really just wanted to get some done and I am not going in any order like usual. I will sort them later :)

I will try to post some photos in the next day or so of what I got done.
