Pumpkin Poop? Halloween Treats

These are some of the treats that I am making for my upcoming craft sale. I have seen these where you add a little poem about Pumpkin Poop. I am not sure if I am going to do that or not, it's a cute little poem, but I kind of like them the way they are. I guess would add it to the back because there isn't room on the front.

I just bought this cool paper when I went to Crafts Direct in St Cloud(Luv it!) I always find great stuff when I go there. It is made by My Mind's Eye. The rest of the paper is scrap/misc. The stamp is from the $ section at Michael's -I am so glad I bought this one because I am finding lots of uses for it! The stamp actually has the pumpkin in the middle but I just punched out the different size circles and then layer them. I stamp the pumpkin on another circle and layer that in the middle.

The photo looks a little more yellow-y than it really is, the bottom photo is better. TFL!

SImple Joys in Life

This is a card I made for the National Alzheimer’s Association contest on Carolyn King's blog. We were supposed to make a card for someone who's a caregiver to someone with Alzheimer's.

My grandma is in the early stages of Alzheimer's and needs a lot of extra help with daily things. I made this card for my mother who is one of her caregivers. My mother and her siblings were told to enjoy the good times "in that moment" because their mom might not remember it later that day or the next, but it's still very real.

This stamp just reminds me of the simple fun in life.

I actually found this stamp at Big Lots for $2, I knew I really wanted it but wasn't sure what I would use it on. The solid pink paper is from Joann's and the pink patterned paper I bought at a garage sale. The flower is a silk flower that I took apart. The scallop is a Marvy punch. I used the Threading Waters punch on the border. TFL!

Birthday Bird Card

I was inspired by the colors/layout I found on Splitcoast Stampers a while back. Here is what I came up with.

OK, so I am soooo not a good color-er, so don't look too close! But I tried really hard so I hope you like it. The stamps are a clear stamp set by Inkadinkado. Paper & ribbon are Misc stuff I had around. Black dots are from $1 section at Joann's. Ribbon is from $1 roll at Michaels. The cool background paper is by Basic Grey - but I can't tell you how many cards I have made from it! I really wanted it to last a loooong time :)

I think I am like the THRIFY CRAFTER, maybe I should change my screen name to that! I always like to get a great deal on things or use what I have had around for a while.

Thanks for looking!

Weekend Sketch Challenge by Beate

My first weekend sketch challenge by Beate(http://beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/)! It was a fun one, but I ended up turning the layout to fit my guitar image. I just bought these Inkadinkado Rock Star stamps and I am having a lot of fun with them. This is a 6x6 square card. I used the Threading Waters punch by Fiskars and taped it close to the edge so you couldn't see the holes, which I thought gave it a "flowing" look.
I stamped the bottom skulls all in a row & cut them out to make a border. The tiny strip of "seed" paper on the left side is by Amy Butler. I REALLY love her paper & fabric right now. My SIL and I made some "Crazy Pants" with the fabric. Funny thing is they were crazy for her & normal for me :) The card paper is a charcoal gray by Creative Memories. Mating paper is from Joann's and the stripe is some funky stuff I picked up along the way. TFL!

World Alzheimer’s Day Contest

In celebration of World Alzheimer’s Day Carol King over at http://myblogbycammie.blogspot.com/ is having a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE contest. You should check it out!

The whole idea it to make a card and thank one(or more) of the caregivers who take care of Alzheimer's patients. It is such a great idea! Here is a quote from the Alzheimer's Association:

"There are an estimated 5 million Americans currently affected, with another person developing Alzheimer's every 71 seconds ... By mid-century, someone will develop the disease every 33 seconds unless we do something.Alzheimer's disease is an escalating epidemic due to our aging population. In fact, 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer's disease in their lifetime".

My grandma was just diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer's, luckily she can still live in an assisted living apartment on her own(with people checking on regularly) but I can still see the impact it has on all of those around her.

I need to go & make a card! I think I will send it to my mom because I can see all of the stress my mother feels making sure that my Grandma is ok.

So Glad We're Friends

Well, I am feeling motivated and trying to get things done. I wanted to try to make some new cards. Here's one of them:

I totally copied the layout from someone awesome on Splitcoast Stampers. I can't remember who she was(sorry-I will list it if I can find it). The middle shape is typically die-cut from the Big Shot, but I don't have one so I cut out the pattern myself after tracing it from another card.

I love the groovy background paper, not sure who made it though.

When I think of friends I think of Coffee!

White Card Challenge

I have never tried to do one of the challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers when they are current. I have tried some of the layouts that I have printed out to do later, but this is my first one on the day it came out! It was a challenge because I am not usually one to use white. My fingers are usually very inky and it always gets all over the white paper! I tried my hardest to keep it clean :) The challenge was basically to use white as your main color, can use black, brown or gray and one other color to accent. Your ink had to match your paper color. No patterned paper, no distressing. I also tried to score the background to give it some interest.

I was inspired by my friend Goldy when I did the rocker cards. I just bought these new "Rock Star" stamps by Inkadinkado and couldn't wait to use. I was thinking of using them for a Christmas card? hmmmm

6x6 Recipe Swap

I took part in a A-Z 6x6 recipe swap & I got the letter "A". We had to make 26 of them but here's of one of them. It was a fun challenge and I got to use my new Fiskars Threading Water punch!

Paint Chip Wedding Card

I got this idea from Angela at http://angelasgro.blogspot.com/. It is making a wedding cake for a card out of a paint chip. I loved how this turned out! I tried to match the colors in the invitation at best as I could. Sorry for the dark photo, you can click on the picture to see it better.

The flower embellies I bought in the wedding section at Target on clearance. I think they are suposed to be like confetti for the table.

Party!

Another card I tried to make for a child's birthday. Could be for a boy or girl? Too girly?
I found this layout on another blog, but I can't remember who's it was. I love the dimension on the stars and the 3-D look it gives.

One card Three ways

I had a request to do a birthday card for a little boy turning 2. I wanted to do something simple & fun. After I completed the first one and gave it to my friend I wanted to make some more because I still had all of the supplies setting out on my worktable. I came up with three different layouts. I can't decide which is my favorite.

I think the airplane paper is from Nana's (something or another) at Joann's and the solids are from Creative Memories. The stamp is part of a clear set by Scrappy Cat called Birthday Wishes, brads are Making Memories and the ribbon is 4th of July spool at Joann's.
